The Motherdough Baking Steel provides an incredible source of direct heat and turns your domestic oven into an industrial powerhouse! See sizes below.
18 times more conductive than stone, this is the one piece of kit that will take your baking to the next level. This solid steel allow absorbs and releases heat energy far more efficiently than stone and you'll see the results in your bake. It is virtually indestructible and as it weighs around 10kg, there are holes for your fingers to help move it around the kitchen.
Preheat the steel to 20 deg C above the your bread baking temperature for 45 minutes, or to your oven max for making pizza.
The steel comes pre-seasoned with a food-grade oil and will darken and develop its own patina the more you use it. It can be used on the oven, but also on a gas stove or braai as a flat top griddle.
The steels fit most ovens, sliding into the racks or resting on the slide in oven tray. It also play nicely with our Motherdough Pizza Peel

The baking steel is an excellent addition to my kitchen. I have not only used it in the oven to bake bread and pizza, but on my Weber and gas stove top as plate to make breakfast, toast bread, and much more. I would highly recommend this.

This baking steal replaced my baking stone. Oven spring is great, heat retention is amazing and the overall outcome could not be better for a home oven. No messing around with narrow dutch ovens and burning yourself. Warning, it remains hot for several hours after turning the oven off.
