Motherdough Baking Steel
The Motherdough Baking Steel provides an incredible source of direct heat and turns your domestic oven in the closest thing to a pizza oven.
18 times more conductive than stone, this is the one piece of kit that will take your baking to the next level. This solid steel allow absorbs and releases heat energy far more efficiently than stone and you'll see the results in your bake. It is virtually indestructible and as it weighs nearly 10kg, there are holes for your fingers to help move it around the kitchen.
Preheat the steel to 20 deg C above the your bread baking temperature for 45 minutes, or to your oven max for making pizza.
The steel comes pre-seasoned with a food-grade oil and will darken and develop its own patina the more you use it. It can be used on the oven, but also on a gas stove or braai as a flat top griddle.
The steels fit most ovens, sliding into the racks or resting on the slide in oven tray.

Works very well, bread has nice crust. There were a few deep scratches on the logo side though. I had to sand them down to a smooth finish.
It took a few bakes to get used to steaming the oven but now that I have developed a technique or too I much prefer to the baking steel to a cast iron dutch oven.
